Pierpont University Mascot Canvas
Follow these directions to create your own masterpiece.
Step 1: Begin with a tracing
Place the carbon paper down on the canvas with the dark (or shiny) side of the paper laying face down on the canvas. Lay the outline of the lion(white paper) on top of the carbon paper. Lift one corner of your picture and tracing paper while tracing to make sure the image is coming through. If you do not see your image on the canvas, flip the tracing paper to the other side.
Using a pencil or ink pen, trace the outline making sure not to move the sheet while tracing.

Step 2: Starting the Lion
We will start with making the brown for the lion's mane. On your plate mix brown, yellow and white paint. Continue to play around with the color until you have the desired color. You are able to go as light or as dark as you would like. Use this to begin filling in the areas as shown below. When completing this step it is ok to paint over the eyes and nose. You will be able to see it through the paint. If you cannot see it, your paint is too dark. You will use this color again in step four.

Step 3: Accenting
Clean your paintbrush completely.
Use your black paint to fill in the areas around the mane. Once your mane is completely dry, you will proceed to step 4.
Step 4: Detailing
Let the painting dry completely. Rinse your paint brush. Using the same tan from step 2 two, outline your entire image.

Step 5: Background
Clean your paintbrush completely.
You have a few options for your background. You are able to paint the entire background black. You are also able to use different colors for your background. Have fun with it!!
